Desecrate The Faith already exist since 2013. They released their
debut in 2014 and now they present their second album "Unholy
Infestation" which will come out on 03.03.2017 under Comatose Music.
Primarily, the intro of the album with the title "Daemones Nos
Ave Satanas" seems a bit deceptive through the mid-tempo related to
the double bass and slowly riffs. It creates the impression that one
gets a slam focused album. However, "Predatory Impalement" destroys
this impression quickly and the speed kicks it into high gear.
Hammering blast beats interspersed with slam parts call the shots
and show a really representative view of what the listener can
expect of this album.
That may sound unspectacular but this
statement isn't negative in this case. The guys of Desecrate The
Faith know how to keep the listener happy despite the fact that one
doesn't listen to a special experimental Brutal Death album rich of
technical demands. This is exemplified by the song "Shrine of
Enmity" that starts with a short film sequence and after that it
dashes forward with high speed and brutal fast riffs. Just as the
title track that sticks out with a really awesome slam mid-tempo
part, especially near the end.
Even at the end the quality
level of the album doesn't decrease. Noteworthy is here the fast
song "Angel Eater" or the grim starting last song "Let Us Burn (The
Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit)" by which the gas pedal is
again fully floored. The vocals are characterized by really deep
growls as typical for Brutal Death Metal. Sometimes they also use
high screams reminding of the earlier Deicide as e.g. in "Angel
Eater". The production is rather raw but this is definitely suitable
for such an album.
Conclusion:
"Unholy Infestation" leaves
the listeners behind in a good mood, although the duration of 51
minutes is rather long for this genre. It can especially score
through its tempo changes, which give the album a certain variety.
Fans of this genre simply cannot do anything wrong with this album.
