Against Evil - All Hail The King (EN)

"All Hail The King" is the name of the debut album by the Indian band Against Evil. To be honest, until this review, I did not even know that there is a Metal scene in India. I can already tell you one thing: Against Evil deliver a very solid work here and so many European bands could learn a thing or two from this work.

Sure, some will definetly say "I've heard that before", of course, but Against Evil have found their own charm and pass that on to their listeners. If compared to other releases from the competition, you can clearly hear how much effort they took regarding the songwriting here.
The musicians know exactly what they are doing and each instrument fits in skillfully in the overall sound. No one is in the foreground here or tries to stand out from the rest of the band. No, here everything fits together instrumentally and only the riff of the first song "The Army Of Four" bashes through your auditory canals and invites to bang along. Immediately you will be catapulted into the good old eighties, which is not be interpreted negatively.

The guitars form a very good foundation and really push forward, so that the rest of the band can not help but run along. With great riffs and transitions, the album scores high and then the song-worthy solos deliver the rest of the spice. That the Indians have brought Mister Jeff Loomis on the song "Sentenced To Death" as a guest musician and challenge him in a solo is only a small extra. The drums support the two guitar riffs with very groovy beats and every now and then it may get a bit harder.
As it should be, the man on the bass forms the sound carpet and thus completes the sound completely.

If even European bands have problems finding a suitable singer, that will be just as difficult in India. Maybe that's why Against Evil chooses the bassist and the lead guitarist as singers. Both are not the best singers, but they do their job very well and the vocals fit in with the rest of the compositions as well. I do not want to imagine what the band would sound like with an official singer.

A total of nine pieces can be found on the release and with a duration of just over thirty minutes this is unfortunately a bit short, because I would have liked to have one or another piece more.

Conclusion:
One should remember the band Against Evil. Because the guys deserve a contract with a good label, which should increase their range with certainty. The disc makes fun from the first moment and that's why it runs in continuous repetition with me. I hope and wish to hear more from the guys.
