The Death Metal Trio Plague Throat from India released "The Human
Paradox" the long-awaited debut album, as the label says. Well, we
will see if the whole thing really was worth waiting for.
You
can hear about 39 minutes of raw, original and brutal Death Metal
like you know it from Cannibal Corpse and the likes. But it's not as
"dull" as the work of the Americans.
The technic is on a
rather high level and this way you bolt through the ten songs.
Rumbling drums, fat death metal riffs and deep grunting growls
determine the sound and now and then you can hear the one or other
solo.
Speed changes are rather rare, because mainly they just go
for wild clubbing. In the longer instrumental parts, the technical
level of the band is clear, but it brings too little variety into
the whole. Even the inserted "ohhh ohhh" at the end of "Ma Nga" does
not change anything. And the sample part at the end of "Fallible
Transgression" is superfluous and does not fit the album. He just
gives you a break from the clubbing.
Regarding the production
they stick to the safe call and thus everything soungs matching to
the genre. Dark and powerful are the keywords here. They only refine
in order that the technical subtleties can be heard. All in all
everything is raw and classic, however.
Conclusion:
As
mentioned above, we have to see whether "The Human Paradox" is the
long-awaited disc, which the fans want to hear. The music served
here is good but it doesn't distinguish itself from the mass. The
tracks are too predictable and offer too few diversity to be at the
top of the league. For a debut this is alright and if the three
exploit their potential further, they should gain a higher rating
next time.
