Seit 9. Januar ist uns bekannt das die Gitarren Legende Tony Iommi von BLACK SABBATH an Krebs erkrankt ist.
Es wurde ein frühes Stadium von Lymhoma (Lymphknotenkrebs) diagnostiziert.
Iommi plant derzeit gemeinsam mit seinen Ärzten die bestmögliche Behandlung und ist Optimistisch wieder vollständig zu genesen.
Die Message kommt genau zu der Zeit in der die Original BLACK SABBATH Besetzung - Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) und Bill Ward (drums) - ihr erstes Album seit 33 Jahren schreibt und aufnimmt in Los Angeles, gemeinsam mit Produzent Rick Rubin.
Die Band ist nun von Los Angeles nach London zurückgekehrt und Iommi wird nun die Pläne zur Behandlung der Krankheit gemeinsam mit seinen Ärzten planen.
In einem Statement bedankt sich der Iommi bei seinen Fans für die vielen Genesungswünsche:
"My fans, friends and colleagues,
I just want to say how overwhelmed I am with all your messages of support, thank you so much.
Well, it's not what I wanted for Christmas, that's for sure, but now I can't wait for the test results to come in and get going with the treatment.
It's really good that the guys are coming over so that we can continue working on the album as things are going great in the studio.
Well, not much else to say at this time, so thanks again.
